We bought our first Labrador in 2001, a Yellow bitch who we named Lucy and she is responsible for our love of this wonderful breed! We then discovered that Lucy meant 'Lightbringer' in Latin and it seemed a perfect name for our Kennel affix. In 2004, we bought in our foundation bitch Hazel from Gail Dodd at Carriegame Labradors and everything we now have goes back to her.
Our dogs all live in the house and they are first and foremost much loved family pets - any showing or working achievements are a lovely bonus! We own all 3 colours but at present we only breed Blacks and Chocolates.

We show our dogs at Open and Championship show level and we have had some good placings including several first places and a BPIB. We realised our dream in 2010 when we qualified (Bailey) a dog we had bred ourselves for Crufts!
We believe our Labradors should be able to do what they were originally bred for and we have started Gundog training with them. Bailey is working towards his Show Gundog Working Certificate and Megan is taking the Gundog Club tests, Grades 1-3. All our dogs have passed the Kennel Club Good Citizen Dog Scheme awards - Bronze, Silver and Gold and Lucy and Megan have been Pets as Therapy dogs.

We are a Kennel Club Accredited Breeder and we only breed a litter when we want to keep a dog to continue our line. We aim to breed healthy Labradors with super temperaments, that look good and could work too, but most importantly that they make great family pets and lifelong companions.
All our dogs are hip, elbow scored and eye tested and we also test for PRA (Progressive Retinol Atrophy), CNM (Centronuclear Myopathy) and our stud dog Bailey is EIC Clear (Exercise Induced Collapse). All our dogs are microchipped.

As previously mentioned, our Labradors all live in the house and they can usually be found curled up on our sofa (as the photo on the right shows!) They are deeply loved and are thoroughly spoilt! Our dogs are exercised daily and we are lucky to have several freshwater lakes nearby where our Labs can swim and numerous open fields for them to run in.
We feed our Labradors (and can thoroughly recommend) - Royal Canin, Pro plan, Arden Grange and Fish 4 Dogs.
